Zachary Kaplan is an experienced technical expert and business manager and is now responsible for the DAI Energy and Resources Business Unit. In his various engagements, Zachary has built extensive experience in both the infrastructure and extractive (oil, gas and mining) industries. Zachary's expertise centers on working with private companies to enter and grow in emerging markets by designing and leading market analysis, conducting economic and investment/finance due diligence, modeling and transaction support, leading public sector engagement strategies and relationship building and helping multinational firms optimize their local supply chain by measuring, screening and identifying competitive local enterprises with which to work. In this capacity over the last 5 years, Zachary has become a leading local content expert who advises multinational oil, gas and mining companies around the world. Zachary has led client engagements with multinational companies including Kosmos Energy, Chevron, BG/Shell, ExxonMobil, Tullow and industry bodies such as IPIECA and ISM.

Mr. Kaplan's draws on his analytical and quantitative skills to work with both private and public entities to conduct rigorous analysis and upstream assessment to drive recommendations and investment decisions and thereafter to advise on implementation. These activities have included analytical review work of policy and regulatory, institutional and business and financial environments; screening, structuring, financing and implementing investment projects in oil, gas and mining and infrastructure (through public-private partnerships, P3); project pre-feasibility and economic and financial analysis; project implementation, management and supervision; market analysis; and both supply chain (local content) value chain analysis.

This has culminated in deep field experience across Africa, Latin America and Asia including: in Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Cote D'Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Tanzania, Somaliland, Mozambique and Rwanda; in Latin America, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Nicaragua, Brazil, and Paraguay; and in Asia, Philippines and Vietnam.

Mr. Kaplan is also a proven manager with experience building and maintaining successful cross-company teams. This includes recruiting, training and managing performance for a team of over 15 people spanning multiple regions and functions as well as managing local country staff on short and long-term contracts such as Enterprise Development Centers, local content policy and economic analyses and long-term project implementation support for corporate social investment.
